[Javascript] what is browser issue on NST and IE?

The browser issue is that different browsers handle page objects in
different ways,
NS4 and IE4 are significantly different as are MAC versions of IE. This
means that some javascript will not work in one browser or the other.

I am newbie, I sometimes heard about browser issue
about Jscript . I can not find this topic when I study textbook about
Jscript. Could someone give me real world  examples on NST and IE? or
give me some  resource hint about that?
