there was an article in the paper here recently about somebody who
conducted an academic study on successful people (scientists? teachers?
politicians? i cannot recall)

anyhow, the premise was, that there is a disproportionate number of
successful people whose surnames are in the first half of the alphabet

the rationalization was that the people whose names are near the end of the
alphabet get (subconsciously?) adjusted to waiting -- in class, etc. -- for
their name to be called, that they eventually end up less competitive
because of it

or something like that

anyhow, take a look at our list of contributors

M is the 13th letter, so it's still in the first half of the alphabet
