Yes.

Example: DonorCo's sponsorship department gets an approach in from
evolt.org. Sponsorship person looks up evolt on the db and sees a
previous donation this year and reacts "Hey, we already supported them
this year, and *they* don't even know about it. What a bunch of losers.
Greedy ones too"

(NB this is quite different from a properly managed funder relationship
where you can go back to one of your existing supporter with a "OK, the
previous time you supported us you got this benefit, so you know we're
good for you. Here's a new thing which can do *this* for you")

Seriously, when I was working in membership and branch based
organisations, I can't begin to count the 'sorry, we already gave'
letters I got from companies and funding bodies.

Usually because the member or branch had (a) Misrepresented what they
were fundraising for (ie the money stayed in their local stuff but they
used the national brand) and (b) Not told the central office that they
were doing it.

On more than one occasion when this happened, the local group lost their
donation for next year too because the organisation looked *so*
incompetent, the funder started asking themselves "How do I know that
they're *capable* of doing the stuff they claimed?"

Cheers
Martin
