there is also the option to use a spacer *row*... if you can spare the one-pixel up top (you can 
always color the <td>s), then you can use spacer .gifs in a row to tell NN and IE how to do the 
table... since those values will be so absolute, the browsers will generally use those unless 
they find reason later on not to...

non-HTML eg:

|-------150px-------|--20px--|---420px/100%---|

the px values are spacer .gif images, and the 100% tells that cell to expand like mad, without 
overtaking the others... to spec?  no.  but that's ultimately your decision to handle...
