[thelist] starting a website

I usually start off by brainstorming with a pencil and sketch page, and
then try the workable ideas out in CorelDraw or Illustrator and/or
Photoshop to see how feasible they are. (I found that for me,
brainstorming with my computer was not a good way to get ideas.)

For my colors, if I, or the client don't have a clear idea of what colors
to use, then I will turn to my color books ('The Designers Guide to Color
Combination', 'Designers Guide to Color 5', and 'Color Harmony 2'), and see
what color combo's will work best with the design. Once I have several
idea's mocked-up, I then put them up for the client to peruse and let them
choose which one (or combination of several) they would like me to follow
through with.
