i know for certain there is software out and about to ASCII-art a picture
(somewhere I have a printout of my head in marvelous greyscale ASCIIvision),
so i'd guess that this person discovered or wrote a lil' app that does it
with pre-determined text and basic web coloring.  a helper app is not
far-fetched - doing this by hand, sorry to say, is.
