What's everyone's opinion on some of these meta tags:

name="document-classification" content="Design"
name="revisit-after" content="30 days"
name="document-type" content="Public"
name="document-rating" content="General"
name="document-distribution" content="Global"
name="document-state" content="Dynamic"

Do they help the search engines get a better grasp or just take up space?

I find that when a client says 'it sure loads slow here' the best way to
prove to them that they don't have the 'high speed' connection they thought
they did is with data. I like to use http://www.tracert.com/en/ get some
test results from around the world and email it to them. usually settles
that debate right there.
