Cookies for a domain are sent with every HTTP request.

Subject: [thelist] cookie request

Hi,
While reading:
http://www.cookiecentral.com/dsm.htm

I noticed it said:
"When you hit such a site, it requests the cookie and
take a look to see who you are, and any other
information in your cookie file. "

I thought that when a client visited a site, the
client
machine "somehow" knows enough to send the value of
any cookie defined for the indicated domain. The above
quote seems to indicate that the server has to issue a
request for any cookies defined for the current
domain. Does the server indeed have to make a request
to the client for the cookies to be sent? If so, is
this done within the HTTP headers? What's the HTTP
"command" that does this?

TIA,
Dave
