Nick

Vignette has come on a long way since the StoryServer days. It
now has strong capabilities in all those areas, and is also backing out
of its position as a 'TCL-only' (ie 'expensive as hell to develop for')
platform
into a more rational, open position.

The new V5 platform talks very well to most of the big personalised
mailing engines like Kana, and has NetPerceptions (it runs the
Amazon personalisation) bundled with it.

Client confidentiality prevents me talking about it in detail, but have a look
at the White Papers on their site. Be warned, though, it's not going to be
cheap...

Main competitors are probably going to be:
*) The Broadvision/Interleaf team
*) Allaire Spectra with Autonomy/NetPerceptions bolted on after a while
(it does reasonable personalisation, but plugs into most of the industrial
strength stuff too - a nice compromise).
*) A modular system built from something like Interwoven Teamsite &
    Autonomy.

If you need intros to the right people at those suppliers, give me a
shout.

Fantastic idea for a site btw - I've been admiring from a distance for a
while now. Look forward to the kiwi & 'bok sites.

Cheers
Martin
