For any who were following my exchange with ppk on opacity in
Mozilla, after some off-list contact and a search of Bugzilla (Mozilla's bug
database), I found that the Mozilla team did, in fact, implement an
"opacity" property, but renamed it as of M18 to "-moz-opacity" (and, yes,
that initial dash is required). The opacity property has been a proprietary
Mozilla implementation that may or may not ultimately jive with an
under-development W3C property of the same name. The Mozilla team decided it
was better not to tempt fate by assuming that the W3C would implement its
property identically (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39168),
and so (wisely, in my opinion) gave it a new -- albeit clunky -- name.
