Thanks Jmae,

Knew it was probably something dumb like that.  Is off the default setting
for IE.  I don't remember setting it to off?

It's a user-configuration issue. In IE5+, go to Tools > Internet
> Options... > Click on Advanced tab > scroll down to "Printing" section,
and
> select checkbox that says "Print background colors and images
