i always wonder about the people that are constantly having troubles making
sites play happy across browsers. i can usually get my stuff looking ok in
everything (minus td bgcolor's in netscape2) with minimal fuss.

it's surprising how many people don't quickly learn just to work with a
minimised set of tags and css that works effectively for as many people as
possible. *shrug*

anyway - it's pretty rare that you actually see dhtml doing something good
for a user... some dhtml menus can be slick, but users don't know whether to
click on the menu header, or mouseover and wait for options to appear, etc.

if, however, you can insist that perhaps administrators use IE5+, then you
can do some cool stuff in the admin sections...
