Howdy...

The following works for ownership on files, but not on directories.

	tar cpf - * | ( umask 0; cd /new/dir; tar xvfp - )

When the new directories are created, they are owned by root - not by the 
proper owner. I guess I can always roll to tape and roll back. sigh.

P.S. To re-iterate, I'm trying to move several GBs of files to a new hard 
drive on my Linux Box and maintain permissions on the files and directories.
