Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Here's a deal - I'll stop pushing those things when people
stop suggesting the bad ideas that they prevent.

Reminds me of an old orchestra story (this is the abbreviated
version):
A singer gives a recital, and after one particular piece, a bloke
at the back shouts "Encore". So she sings it again, and again
he shouts "Encore". When a third encore is requested, the
conductor turns to the audience and says "Ladies and Gentlemen,
Madam $foo has sung this for you three times already. Do you
not think it is time she moved onto the rest of her programme?".
The response came from the back of the hall "She will sing it
again, and again, until she gets it *right*."

<tip type="arguing with subject authorities">
If you disagree with a respected authority, ensure that you have
facts and research at a more thorough level than theirs to cite
before you dispute their authority.

Arguments on the scale of "ooh, I don't think so" don't cut it.
</tip>

Cheers
Martin

As a side note: +1 on the Jakob Nielsen moratorium. It's not that he
doesn't have good things to say, it's just that I can only be beaten over
the head with the same basic principles so many times. :)
