Always keep your DB file out of harms way, in a folder that is above
  your public_html folder (the same as your cgi-bin). e.g.

/--
   |--db_folder
   |--public_html
      |--images
   |--cgi-bin

The system should be able to access it fine, but no user can go browsing 
and find it... even by accident.
