	+1. I've always wondered that myself, and like you, I could never
come up with a good reason (maybe something to do with their common use? or
that so many wysiwyg tools use them?). Seems like an oversight to me, but I
can't believe that the W3C didn't at least consider deprecating them.
Inquiring minds want to know...
