we've been keeping an eye on viewpoint and it seems to be very impressive
and easy to use for quick and dirty 3D visualisation.

Nike seem to use it a lot for 3D models of their new trainers and Sony have
used it to animate and visualise the aibo robot dog thing.

they've also introduced a browser plug-in for mac so it's no longer
exclusive to windows, though the memory and cpu requirements are a bit
demanding for lower spec machines.
