Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

Of course, this is all fine, as long as you've given your
permission for it.

One problem is that some networks' implementation of SMS is
a bit, well, flaky. So even if $BIG_CORP knew you were outside
such and such a bar, and sent you an SMS, there's no guarantee
you'd even get it the same day.

I've worked with clients who do permission-based SMS - you tell
them the time window where you would be happy receiving an SMS -
and they're putting a *sent* timestamp on each SMS, as people were
receiving them outwith the window.

Cheers
Martin

yes? as you walked by the coke machine on the street your phone would ring
with a "special offer."
