I've read both these books. *I* found they were both very helpful, but I 
know not everyone likes Jakob. If you're not a fan of alertbox you probably 
won't enjoy the book much.

But the O'Reilly book is really good. Definitely get it if you're 
interested in this field. It isn't too "heavy", but still informative.
