Sorry about forgetting who the original questioner 
was (I'm at home at the moment).

<tip type="IIS and serving from directories on network machines">
IIS runs as a user under NT domain authentication, usually
called IUSR_$MACHINENAME.

A directory which lives on another computer needs to have
read/execute/whatever it is you want permissions granted to
that username.

Also bear in mind that IUSR_WHATEVERITIS is a *local* user,
not a domain user.

I was suddenly reminded of this this morning after reading a
similar post about Windows Media services on another list.
