Hey all!

I was just sent a link to an article that someone suggested could help my
Win98 instability issues, but want further anaylsis on what they recommend:

"The problem is that key support files with names ending in such acronyms as
.dll and .vbx get out of sync over time as users install increasing numbers
of programs that overwrite the original support material, getting things out
of phase. A common result is cranky shutdowns and that infernal and idiotic
ScanDisk routine that so vexes you.

Use the Recovery disk making sure to only restore the Windows operating
system rather than restoring the PC to its newly formatted state. The latter
will fix your complaint but erase all of your word files and Quicken data
along with all kinds of other stuff you accumulated using that machine."

Now, I'm no system expert, but won't restoring the Windows OS even screw up
or loose some of the stuff I have on the machine????????????

This kind of stuff scares the crap out of me! Too much stuff on this
machine to loose!

Thanks for any input,

Sandy
