That's plain silly and not what this is about, now if someone was
selling claw hammers with an ad saying - "look how easy this hammer
makes it to get nails out, go ahead, take them from everywhere you see a
nail, even your neighbour's house, and keep them in the handy nail tin
(only $3.00 plus sh)" - now that would be closer to what's going on
here.

I'm not screaming, just disgruntled.

I'm looking at a new feature(s) in the same way that the monks looked at
Caxton and his printing press.

I'm looking at a feature in the same way that greenpeace look at nuclear
reactors.

Cool technology - Saves everyone a lot of work.

But is it a *good* thing? Not for the monks or the Chernobyl villagers.

It's the little things that make the difference in the long run.

If we don't fight against the little things that we feel are bad then
society slowly slides into decay.

For me this is a part of something much much bigger, but this forum is
where we discuss Web Design and related issues.

Smart Tags are going to dramatically change the way things work.
I don't like it, I'm going to say I don't like it.

As a user - Brilliant idea.

As someone who has to sell web design - oh what a headache!

One more client discussion about who can and who can't see what's on his
site and why some people will see other peoples products linked from his
pages unless we turn the tags off page by page and yes that means some
people won't see his smart tags either. As if explaining Flash plug-ins
and cross browser compatibility wasn't hard enough.

I'm sure Smart Tags and the Image Bar are going to happen, but this
discussion and discussions like it educate and enlighten us so that we
can manage our piece of the world the way we want to.

Yours,

Tony
