And OFF by default, instead of ON. I think the point being made was that a
'gee whiz' add-in was eventually (more or less) deep-sixed because most MS
users (however you categorize their computer abilities) found it annoying
rather than helpful. Also, this is barely related to the real issues with IE
smart tags.

Looks like MS responded to what the users wanted. Anyone have any evidence
that turning the Office Assistant off was really another MS plot?
