ok, other options...

- see if you can import it into Illustrator or FreeHand...

- print to another PDF, or a PostScript file, or some other file output 
and pull the text out of there...

- make sure it's really locked by trying to save it without a 
password and no locking (if you have Acrobat, not just the reader)...

- screen-cap and OCR...

- print and OCR...

- run it through Adobe's accessibility tool, which renders the plain 
text of PDFs as plain text...

etc...

some or all of these may not work...
