Hi all,

The browser debate seems to be going on and on, but something that doesnt
seem to be metioned, forgive me if Ive missed it, is that backward
compatibility is also 'forward compatibility'. Ok what do I mean?

Well if a site degrades nicely it is probable that its going to do the same
on the new devices coming onto the market place PDAs phones etc this as far
as UK goverment funding is concerned is the biggest drive ie as well as
e-commerce we have m-commerce, mobile devices neccesarily use older
standards in the first instance because its easier for their developers
(also another case for not shutting your front door with flash?!) obviously
this doesnt include the likes of WML an so one, but its all fresh and new
and who know which way it'll bounce) but these devices may well only give
small percentages at the moment but what if those numbers started to
*mysteriously* grow ... basically inside any of these web enabled devices is
a baby PC/modem blah ... the first people to get these toys are necessarily
wealthy ... do you want to cut them out ... in two years time it may be too
late ...
