d'oh! that's what i get for not paying attention...

oh, playing hardball are we? hehh...
another resource for HIPAA info as it relates to all managed care
folks:
Managed Care Information Center
http://www.themcic.com
they have a newsletter, too... and their site has some info on the
recent conference about how all this impacts the IT industry
(although it lacked in web-specific content, IMO)...
and if you work in the health insurance industry, membership has
its privileges, especially with all the legislation out there and its
constant state of flux:
Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA)
http://www.hiaa.org/
so, yeah, i'm down with the $20 billion worth of hassle, and all the
security issues, and all the hassle for web applications (especially
those that were in development)...
that's why i hate hearing/seeing HIPAA... nightmares...

From a recent Jupiter report:
"According to Jupiter research, 61 percent of consumers would
spend more time on sites that offer easy, intuitive navigation. Both
young users and adults cite icons and images as their preferred
methods of navigation. As the tenure of online users increases, site
design will evolve from text-based indices into what users want: a
fluid and iconographic environment."
"Consumers familiarity with off-line navigation techniques has
helped users adapt to using them to navigate the Web. According
to the recent Jupiter Consumer Survey, 71 percent of consumers
report that they are generally satisfied with available online
navigation systems. Unfortunately, these off-line design features
benefit online properties because they are familiar, not because
they are intuitive or particularly effective."
