[thelist] Connecting to MS SQL via Linux Java JDBC

Has anyone does this?

We have the Java SDK 1.3 installed on Redhat 7.0 and connecting to mySQL
via a JDBC Java class file we picked up from somewhere (e.g. I'm at home
and cant remember where). We have data in a MS SQL 7 (Win2k Box) that we'd
like to connect to. However we are having no luck in getting anything to work.

We've tried the JDBC FreeTDS Java Class but either haven't installed it
right or something because we can't even load the driver without an error.

Does anyone have a link to a good basic install how to, or success with
this type of setup that can point me towards some good reading material??

Side Note: We also seem to be running into a CLASSPATH setup quandry with
the Java SDK itself. Is there are place or process that someone can
recommend to store custom java classes that will be accessible when the
DSK/RTE is invoked? Without having to load up the environment variable
CLASSPATH with huge amounts of path pointing to each specific jar file.
