Does anyone have a list of how the popular search engines refer to
themselves when making an HTTP call? I want to add some conditions in
my application file that will redirect certain users (engines) to my
data in ways that will be formatted in an indexing friendly way.
<tip type="Search Engine Optimization" author="Frank Marion">
When custom generating pages optimized for search engines remember
the following Law: The data that is submitted must be 100% accurate.
It must honestly reflect the contents of your site.
The search engine people make their money based on advertising, and
attract users by providing excellent results to a query. People
messing with search engines have caused the SE people to be wary. The
engines will disqualify, sometimes permanently, anyone who may
attempt to mislead them.
Be honest, and your ranking will be as good as your content.

Some are born great. Some achieve greatness.
Both are excellent contacts to keep in your Rolodex.
