Windows 2000 has been the most comfortable OS I have worked with in...
well... forever? It's been stable, the driver support from the vast majority
of hardware manufacturers is quite decent (especially now, 2 years after it
was released... any companies who don't have support for it yet are lazy,
lame or both).
I have recently started working with XP and I must say it was the smoothest
upgrade I've ever done (even moreso than 2k) and I like the new features.
"Luna" (the codename for the new interface) is interesting, albeit another
blatent Mac rip-off, but it is cute none-the-less. The taskbar augmentations
are the most readily noticed GUI improvements. All in all quite nice. (And
the built-in Remote Assitance / Remote Desktop are / will be very well loved
by computer savvy individuals with family members who endlessly drain their
time by nagging about Computer Troubles. ) The new copy protection schemes
are questionable to say the least th0...
