[thelist] MSN locks out non IE browsers

I think this is the most important consideration. MSN is probably not the
same portion of Microsoft that creates the browser. MSN and IE are very
separate parts of a large company. MSN is not just a site that promotes IE,
it is used by many people for email, news, and so on. Yanking competing
browsers by name off their site shows a pretty big conflict of interest.

As much as we might like IE because it makes our lives as web developers
easier, competition is usually a healthy thing. Without competition, maybe
we'd all be using lynx today. I, for one, am not interested in a world
where Microsoft gets to define the standards (think J++, the scrolling
marquee tag, and so on).

People rightfully objected to this blatant ploy by Microsoft, and I'm
thankful that they retreated.

<tip type="coldfusion">
	At a session at DevCon, I learned that cfscript can be up to 20%
faster than using functions within ColdFusion tags.

	In an added note, we know that the art site isn't trying to push its
own
	browser out the door, like Microsoft is.
