Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

-------------------- Start of message text --------------------

He was management & business long before he was a tech - Harvard
educated, mother good friends with IBM board members (which made
the initial MSDOS licensing & bundling very, very easy to negotiate),
rich as Croesus before he started MS.

It's all a bit easier with those headstarts.

Cheers
Martin

Also, I like the guy. Most execs are just knowlegeable about the keys and
the color of the case. Now he might be. But there was a time (and maybe
still). And even if he can't, he was one of us and he made the transition
from teckie to management, as no one in history before, and it may be a
while before someone else does it to the same degree. Go, Bill, Go!
