notice that you're missing an opening brace?  i didn't mess with this quoted
bit at all.  seems *very* ironic that you just proved his point for choosing
to use the matched brace approach.

and that's the key -- it makes more sense to *you*.  that's why it's wrong
to call the matching brace method an "infected, evil mess".  use what works
for you, but don't criticize what may work better for others.
