i did put win2k appletalk on, but it [helpfully] informed me that it was not
suitable for file/printer sharing, and indeed only might be if i was running
win2k server [im just running pro across this network.

I have tried to use MS built in appletalk networking, but found it buggy in
NT4, and heavy/chatty in Win2K (appletalk is a chatty protocol, so it adds
more traffic to the network).

I have been using Dave a lot in client environments and find it very nice.
It's a bit pricey, but for just one machine, might be worth it.  If you are
broke, then turn on Appletalk services in win2k and give it a shot.
