[thelist] Setting Form field Size.

best way, IMO, is to use the size attribute to set what you want in NN,
then override it with CSS for IE (and other CSS ready browsers).

so, <input type="text" size="12" style="width:120px;">

basically, play/test on NN to your liking, then define exactly for
CSS-browsers. (because the CSS will override the size= if the browser is
aware, and harmlessly ignore if unaware.

(ps: don't forget to check on the mac/pc too, as forms vary significantly.)

this page has a good chart of sizes:
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/99/41/index3a_page5.html?tw=design
and here's the accompanying zip file of the pieces, for inspection in
photoshop: http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/99/41/stuff3a/parts.zip
