[thelist] .httacesss problem

I made an .httacess file and uploaded to the root folder on my webserver 
following the instructions of the FAQ of my web hosting....


in the .httacess file i should set this 3 lines of texts:

ErrorDocument 401 http://www.minid.net/404.html
ErrorDocument 403 404.html
ErrorDocument 404 404.html


then i upload the 404.html to my root folder.

and when i try to do that i get this message:

Not Found
The requested URL /jshjkdasjkdsa was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while 
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is there something wrong with my .httacess? maybe do i need to config my 
apache a little better?
