i'll need more info about what "failing" means   ;o)

your pc crashes?  goes into an infinite loop?  installs ie6?
the query returns no rows?  returns all rows?  returns wrong rows?

after checking your syntax, the next step is checking your data

are the join fields the same data type?  

*are* there actually any matching keys?
