[thelist] MySQL through MS Access?

Jeff,

I've never had any problems .. in fact I do it a lot .. since I have the
local files here, there's times when its easier to manipulate a large amount
of data in the Access files directly, like performing global search and
replace, etc. I usually maintain only very simple web forms, that allow the
client to manipulate individual records, update, add, delete. But when I
get a request to change something globally, I do it remotely, then reupload
the file on top.

That said, occasionally .. I need to go into my host's interface and reset
the properties of the file, i.e. assigning read/write/execute. Especially
if I were to use the upload a file with a different name option, and then
rename it .. the properties would need to be reset. Dropping overtop works
best for me.

Small clients, small databases. If there was a greater risk of overwriting
someone else's work, I'd want to do a replicate on the db's before I
reuploaded it.

HTH,

Michele
