[thelist] Use of "replace" method in JavaScript

Hello Everybody,
Can somebody explain me the use of "replace" method in JavaScript with some examples? Which versions of browsers support it? I have
learned about it from a book but I am still unable to use "replace" method successfully. I think the explanation in the book is
incomplete.
