Dave Thau's 'The Book of JavaScript A Practical Guide to Interactive Web
Pages (With CD-ROM)'
ISBN: 1886411360

Webmonkey's Thau put his online JavaScript tutorial in a book. It's the best
getting started guide I know of, but it's virtually all available online at
Webmonkey as well.

When you finish that, if you're not where you want to be, Danny Goodman's
'JavaScript Bible, 4th Edition' ISBN: 0764533428
