[thelist] screen tints for web?

Hi

If you're stuck with colors that aren't websafe, you're stuck with them...

A non-websafe color will "snap" to it's nearest websafe equivalent when
rendered in a browser that can't/won't render that color. To put yourself in
clear, simply feed all these non-websafe colors into photshop and check "use
websafe colors only". By doing this, you've got the worst-case of each
color. Show these to the client, so that they know what it might look like.
That way, if their lovely offwhite goes pink, they can't blame you.

hiya!

just got a nice big list of new corporate colors from the new guy they
hired. they didn't like the old corporate color psychologist, so they hired
a new one, who tweaked the colors a bit. the guy chose a bunch of pantone
colors and then "translated" them into hex colors that aren't websafe!
<sigh> but these are now the required colors.

fwiw, we are also allowed to use screen tints in certain amounts in our
presentations and website. how can i best approximate in photoshop,
fireworks, whatever (i don't have illustrator) these required tints?

tia,

f
