What do you mean acceptable? As in standards? Do we use it? I can vouch for
the .jpg example. I have scanned an old bw picture of my family from waaay
back when, and use the brackets in the URL. Don't know about the directory
though. I suppose it depends on your server FS and if it supports such
naming conventions. I know in FAT32+, you can use brackets in file names. I
don't know if I'm off on a tangent here or not, but ultimately, the
decision on how you structure your URLs depends on how effectively they
convey the information (in this case, directory structure/road map/etc.) to
your audience.

<tip type="DOS Path Settings/Environment" Author="Burhan Khalid">

   If you ever get the error "Out of Environment Space" in DOS, here is the
way to remedy the situation.
   This error occurs when you try to set variables that are beyond the
default 256 bytes memory limit in DOS.
   A long path, or a program that appends to your PATH will usually
generate such errors.
   Add the following lines in your Config.sys file, included in your system
root (usually C:\>)

   SHELL=C:\PATH\COMMAND.COM /P /E:NNNN

   Where NNNN is the size of your environment space in bytes. A good
settings is 1024.
   Warning : Increasing this size takes away from your Conventional Memory,
so be careful
   with large numbers.
