what's the problem?

start by writing valid html. that'll get you 90% of the way. then use your
head to avoid certain (but few) standards-compliant situations that
certain browsers screw up.

i mean, if you've got positioned divs all over the place, that might be
standards-compliant, but may or may not be smart coding.
