Hi Aaron,
Here are my suggestions about online tutorials:
For HTML, CSS: http://www.echoecho.com/
For HTML, CSS, XHTML: http://www.w3schools.com/
I believe that these sites are up-to-date according to the modern
aspects of WWW.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone recommend a good beginner's HTML tutorial that includes
XHTML/CSS?

A friend of mine asked me last night if I would give him some HTML
lessons.
I told him I would send him some URLs to online tutorials, but now I
realize
that all of the ones I know of are totally outdated. Obviously he needs
to
now about table-based layout technique, but I'd like him to also be
aware of
the new trends.

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Aaron
