agreed, though any competent user that still has this age-old hole open
probably deserves to be infected.

been using email for at least 5 years now and never gotten a virus.

i personally find anti-virus software to be system hogs and a general
nuisance.

there's more to it than that.  you can (*should*) disable all scripting and
other possible holes in the restricted zone.  then, set outlook/outlook
express to use the restricted zone for reading email.  this will eliminate
99% of the infection possibilities.  add to that the security patch that
prevents executables from being executed by an iframe and you should be
100%.

be a responsible user.  visit the window's update site at least a couple of
times a month.  i personally make it a habit to visit there every monday
morning before starting in on anything else that day.  i download and
install any new patches or hotfixes i find.
