I like to go a little smaller than that actually to 710px. Users *really* don't
want to move their eyes back and forth as much as neccassary for a 100%
width text at 800x600. For fluid designs, try 85%-80% for less eye strain and
a nice margin. IMHO margins on blocks of text are needed(!) and much nicer
looking as well as being a good old fashioned layout principle from print that
works for the web too.
