Is this fileserver on your LAN?
Do you have a DNS server on your LAN?
What type of network is this?  (asked because of things such as microsoft's
zones and such)

Depending on the answers above, yes, you can do local "webserving"

stuff like http://yourbox/index.html  and such.  All depends if your
computer knows how to reference "yourbox".
