[thelist] RNIB, Flash and Accessibility

Thanks for the forward, Martin. I looked at the RNIB's message center at
Yahoo Groups, but they chose to make it inaccessible to non-member. I've
forwarded the entire text to a number of folks here at the shop.

The message reads a little strangely to me -- the nearest thing I can
understand she might want would be for that little 200K Macromedia Flash
Player each person downloads to include the proprietary JAWS code and other
singular connections, instead of the standard MSAA system-level assistive
routines. I'm hoping someone on staff is in person-to-person contact with
here so we can get some type of closer understanding of what she'd actually
prefer.

(btw, pre-existing Flash sites certainly can use a standards-based screen
reader... you'll hear text and generic object identifications, but won't
have the ALT-like authoring tips that can be put into new Flash files.
Older content is automagically audible now.)

Thanks again for forwarding that, I owe ya one! 8)
