yep, that's a keen approach...

and with attribute selectors, you could even use CSS to style all
offsite links differently (assuming the browser can see it)... i also
always put a "opens in new window" in all my new window links...

of course, on my personal site, i use XHTML loose, since none of that
flies in strict...
