Found the solution. . .and it turned out not to be the CR LF situation (but thanks for the tip, Carol!)...or the end anchor tags.

Altho I had checked my end anchor tags I hadn't checked the beginning ones. I had:

<a name="top">&nbsp;&nbsp;<img src blah blah> but it should be

&nbsp;&nbsp;<a name="top"><img src blah blah>

NN4.7 didn't like the two non-breaking spaces placed between the two opening anchor tags.

Thanks for your input, folks. Another gremlin goes up in smoke!
