[thelist] virtual private server recommendations

I'm looking for a reasonable solution for hosting and administrating
multiple sites (about 10 right now, hopefully continuing to grow).

I am currently using a Vserver, but in the year or so that I've had it the
company has changed hands twice -- I'm now, through no choice of my own, a
typically unimpressed Interland customer (example: my server runs a
three-year old beta version of PHP4 which Interland won't upgrade because
they're not supporting "legacy" hosts).

I'm leaning toward a "virtual private server" -- I've done some research,
and so far I've been most impressed by Remarkable Hosting
(http://www.remarkablehosting.com/) and OnSmart (http://www.onsmart.net/).
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with either of these companies?

Rackshack (http://www.rackshack.net/) has dedicated servers for not much
more money, but all of the sites I'm currently hosting are fairly
low-traffic, and a dedicated server might be overkill. Also, as far as I
can tell from the Rackshack site, I would be responsible for software
updates, etc. -- that stuff is taken care of with a virtual private server,
which is nice.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Noah
